Measuring Mystem
The measuring system Monkey Forest (ITA Aachen) allows us to measure out installations with the aim to optimise (frequency, phase and levels). All room acoustic target values that were calculated in the design stage can be metrologically revised; all conclusions of the measurement are then taken back into the planning.
Measuring Methods
Monkey Forest uses a unique method of measurement, the application of weighted sinus-sweeps. By this, the system is less sensitve to interfering inductions like noise or wind than ordinary systems which work by maximum length sequences (MLS).
In Practice
The implication of the sweep-measuring signal is more convenient to those who are standing by than the usual pink noise method. The measurement can easily be carried out while constructions at the site are under way. Also the extremely short measurement period results far more economical.
Even one single measurement can give informations about the frequency response, phase, speech intelligibility (STISTISpeech Transmission Index…

and many more parameters. The charateristic of Monkey Forest is merging the measurement results of many different measuring points throughout the room. The J-Filter Module allows calculations for ideal equalization of the system.
