Albers Wettboerse runs 13 local branches in Berlin and other cities in Germany. The audio for all branches (horse race commentators etc) is centrally received in the Berlin HQ and then delivered to the local branches.
Until 2005, this was done via telephone lines to each branch, consequently delivering rather poor audio quality to each branch. Together with some room-acoustical problems in some of the local branches, this lead to insufficient intelligibility for the clients in the local branches.

was conulted by Albers to find solutions for both problmes.
For Audio distribution, a new mixing system was installed based on Symetrix Symnet which now allows a wide range of audio processing. A custom-made switching board for the sources was designed for easy control of sources in the headquarters. For the audio itself, a streaming solution was developed together with Trillian GmbH. A stream is now distributed to each branch via TCP/IP, allowing much higher quality than a phone line.

As streaming components we chose Instreamer/ Exstreamer from the swiss specialist Barix AG.

Along with the distribution system, three branches were fitted with a new sound system:

Berlin Karlshorst:
2 x Duran Audio V90 to deliver improved speech intelligibility, controlled by a Symetrix 322 processor

Berlin Orianienburger Damm:
5 x Duran Audio V90, controlled with Biamp Nexia PM

Bottrop Branch:
2 x Duran Audio V90, 4 x Bosch LBC 3200, controlled with Biamp Nexia PM

Each system was fitted a simple and easy-to-use user interface which allows switching of different pre-programmed presets.

The streaming solution together with new loudspeaker systems in the critical branches of Albers now allow significantly improved intelligiblity while simplifying control of the system for the staff.
